NFL injury spree leaves rosters in need of help

Opening week in the NFL was, of course, glorious, chaotic and messy. In all likelihood, he left his fantasy lists littered with little red Qs and O’s. Dak Prescott, keenan allen, Chris Godwin, tee higgins, najee harris Y then mitchell They were among the wounded. But the games keep coming, so you’ll need to patch up those damaged rosters this week. Below is a collection of possible options, all available in most Yahoo leagues and recommended for immediate use.

Wide receivers on the cable

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders (7% on list)

In case you somehow forgot, when curtis samuel It’s healthy, it’s a extremely difficult task…

Samuel’s first season in Washington was mostly erased by a groin injury, as he appeared in only five games, playing just 84 total offensive snaps. But he reminded us on Sunday that when he’s right, he’s simply one of the most dangerous multi-threat players in the league. He gained 72 yards from scrimmage in a dozen touches against the Jaguars, occasionally clowning around defenders who tried to tackle him. Samuel also saw a team-high 11 goals, a total we shouldn’t ignore. He makes it a priority before next week’s matchup in Detroit.

Recommended waiver offer, assuming a budget of $100: $19

Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders (24%)

Let’s be clear: We don’t officially endorse any fantasy lineup that contains multiple Washington skill players, certainly not in a week without a break. Asking carson wenttz Consistently handing out three or more useful receivers is, um… well, it’s probably a bad plan.

But if you drew up a list with no commanders, then consider trying Samuel or Jahan Dotson, a rookie from Penn State who generated excitement throughout camp. Dotson entered the league with the Receiving Perception seal of approval after producing 2,066 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in his last two college seasons. He feasted on his pro debut, catching a pair of touchdown passes, including the game-winner…

It’s hard to imagine a performance that would have solidified his place in the team’s receiving hierarchy more than Sunday’s effort. Dotson is clearly a player who needs to be widely included in fantasy leagues of any size and shape.

Jarvis Landry, New Orleans Saints (42%)

Miguel Tomas caught them both james winstonThe TD pass in his long-awaited return after various injuries, but it was Jarvis Landry who actually led the Saints in goals on Sunday. He caught seven of his nine chances for 114 yards, justifying last week pickup hype. Landry was an afterthought in the drafts, oddly enough, despite his history of relevance in fantasy. We shouldn’t need to give a guy who has six 80-plus sack seasons and never stops being wide open a hard sell. Their 40-yard semi-miracle catch within the final minute against Atlanta made the Saints’ victory possible.

Offer: $12

Additional WR and TE to add: Robbie Anderson (never left the field, got loose for a long TD and went over 100 yards), Devin Duvernay (dragged all four of his targets, with two TDs included; if you had it listed and didn’t start it, You are not alone), DJ chark (He looked suspiciously like Chark 2019, catching four passes and reaching the end zone once in eight opportunities), Donovan Peoples-Jones (comes off an 11-goal game and the Jets are on deck), kyle phillips (he got nine goals from ryan tannehillcatching six and generally looking like a PPR manager’s friend), Gerald Everett (he caught a touchdown pass in Sunday’s win over the Raiders and his QB is just amazing), logan thomas (we didn’t necessarily expect him to return from his knee injury in the opening week, but he managed to play 48 snaps and see six goals), Taysom Hill (he’s obviously retained the gimmick role he had in previous seasons, but only played 16 snaps in the opener, drawing a target). Some of you will add OJ Howardunderstandably. Let’s just note that he only played a dozen plays and was targeted twice.

Quarterbacks for your broadcast or stash consideration

Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints (46%)

After Sunday’s exciting but entirely predictable comeback against the Falcons, Winston has thrown 16 touchdown passes and just three interceptions in his eight starts for New Orleans. This is a guy who threw 30 picks his last season in Tampa, as you may recall. Winston’s receiving corps is exceptional and he has never been averse to making high-performance downfield shots. He completed 23 of his 34 attempts on Sunday with an aDOT of 9.6. Next week’s matchup with the Bucs could be a challenge, but he travels to Carolina the following Sunday. Assuming he’s in good health, Winston is fully capable of giving us 30+ passing scores.

Offer: $5

Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts (43%)

While Ryan was far from perfect in Sunday’s tie at Houston, he managed to throw for 352 yards on a whopping 50 attempts. He is also the type who can pass Michael Pittman Jr.which is a good way to make a living…

Next week, the Colts will travel to Jacksonville to face a defense that only allowed more than 300 yards and four touchdowns for carson wenttz and the Commanders. The following week, Indy hosts KC in a game that should offer plenty of fantasy goodness. So for short-term streaming purposes, Ryan can definitely help.

Offer: $4

Other QBs approved for use: Carson Wentz (It’s never a clinic with Wentz, but his receiving corps is packed with talent and the Lions are next.) Marco Mariota (The guy just rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown, numbers that will play out in any format.)

Corridors to prioritize

Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears (41%)

yes, it is true that David Montgomery he outscored Herbert on Sunday, 20-10, and outsnapped him 38-17. But Herbert got the job done on the goal line and dominated the offense that gave Chicago a two-touchdown lead over the Niners. The fact that the team has mounted it in the most important moments seems significant. Herbert was a revelation last season, producing 388 yards from scrimmage during a four-game stretch in which Montgomery sat out. He looks like he may have landed a significant regular role in this year’s offense.

Jeff Wilson Jr., San Francisco 49ers (18%)

then mitchell he was on his way to a massive run total at Chicago, but a first-half knee injury ended his afternoon after he had rushed six times for 41 yards. In his absence, Wilson managed 11 touches and gained 30 yards in rainy conditions at Soldier Field. Unless this is his first fantasy football season, he’s no doubt familiar with Wilson, a multi-year backup for the Niners. He has produced a few single-game rashes in the past when called upon. His upcoming matchup with Seattle shouldn’t scare you, but obviously trey lance Y deebo samuel they’re going to continue to see significant accelerated usage. Those two combined for 21 carries and 106 rushing yards in the loss at Chicago.

Mitchell is expected to be out for maybe eight weeks with his MCL injuryso Wilson’s services will definitely be needed.

Offer: $16

Several other RBs worthy of attention: Rex Burkhead (he had 70 total yards against the Colts on 19 touches, drew eight targets and played more than 70% of the snaps — disastrous news for those who drafted dameon pierce), jaylen warren (early reports suggest Harris’ foot injury is not seriousbut it is worth noting that Warren operated as his clear replacement), Drake from Kenya (for whatever time J. K. Dobbins is sidelined, Drake is Baltimore’s main running back), isa pacheco (The rookie did most of his work in the fourth quarter on Sunday, with the Chiefs in full control against Arizona, but 62 yards and a touchdown are worth noting), a benjamin (he overcame darrel williams 22-nil on Sunday, running as Arizona’s unrivaled No. 2 back), white rachel (He’s backing up Leonard Fournette and coming out of an eight-touch game).

For those transmission fenders

Cleveland Browns (27%)

The Browns gave up four sacks and an interception in Game 1 and the team is about to host the Jets next Sunday. myles garrett and friends will classify as a starter group most of the time. This D should be more than just a streaming option, but it’s available in over 70 percent of Yahoo’s leagues.
